Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia has now released its draft registration standards for consultation

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia (the Board) has released a consultation paper on proposed registration standards for:

1. continuing professional development
2. criminal history
3. English language skills
4. professional indemnity insurance (PII)
5. recency of practice.

In addition, the Board is consulting on draft standards in relation to grandparenting provisions, eligibility for registration and the requirement that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health practitioners need to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

The Board is currently asking for people to read the standards and provide feedback by 10 October 2011. The Board is interested in comments from a wide range of stakeholders and believes that your feedback will be critical to informing the final draft standards which will be submitted for approval later in 2011.
