A coronial inquest investigating deaths in the remote Western Australian Kimberley community of Balgo has heard petrol sniffing has disappeared there in the past year. Police testified that solvent use was widespread in Balgo in the 1990s and still occurred regularly in 2008 and 2009. However, the current officer-in-charge of Balgo police station told the court not a single case of petrol sniffing had been reported in 14 months.
