New self service and online options will give Australians 24/7 access to many Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services. A single website (www.humanservices.gov.au) and phone number (13 24 68) will provide customers with an easier first point of contact.
Minister for Human Services, Tanya Plibersek, said the new website would make it easier, particularly for those who prefer online contact, giving people the choice of managing their Centrelink and Medicare business online without the need to visit and queue at an office. This new centralised service will allow more people to access government services and information from home, at a time that is convenient for them, and ultimately lead to less correspondence by mail.
