Blindness still a threat in remote areas

The International Centre for Eye Care Education have found Indigenous people are six times more likely to go blind compared to non-Indigenous people.

Spokeswoman Anna Morse says regular optometry treatment is making a difference, and two optometrists have seen more than 350 patients over three weeks in four Northern Terrritory communities.

The program has been running for six years for people living in remote communities.
