The Telethon Institute for Child Health Research has released a new report showing that the pneumococcal vaccine program has contributed to 'closing the gap' in the levels of pneumonia between Indigenous children and non-Indigenous children in Australia. Report author Hannah Moore also acknowledged the impact of changes to socioeconomic factors such as education, income, treatment of water supplies and household crowding in the reduction of these levels. The report has been published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
