Study highlights problem in remote power access

Date posted: 28 August 2014

A new report, produced by the Queensland Council of Social Service, has found people living in remote Queensland communities are sometimes going without power.

The report found some households either can't afford power cards, or can't buy them due to limited store hours. The Queensland Government has recently acknowledged the problem, saying anyone using pre-paid power is eligible for the electricity rebate, one of the range of electricity concessions offered by the state government.
