Launch of new Indigenous Business Directory inguides

Date posted: 15 September 2010

The first online Indigenous service and business directory inguides has been launched in Australia. This directory was developed by Cairns based Aboriginal digital entrepreneurs, Leigh Harris and Steven Pelham as a result of the frustrations they experienced in trying to locate information about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services through existing online avenues. The website is designed to benefit Indigenous Australians on a National level and it is anticipated that all Australians including government and private sectors could use the site to engage Indigenous business and services across the country. The site includes listings by category and they have a list dedicated to Indigenous Health and Wellbeing. The site is based on local directories such as the yellow pages, and consumers will need to subscribe and pay to have access to the service, however there is a three month trial currently in place on the site and during this time the services can be accessed for free. First ever Indigenous Australian applications for iphone and ipad will also be rolled out, giving even greater access to Indigenous services within Australia.
