West Australian Racing and Gaming Minister Terry Waldron declared restricted areas under section 175 of the Liquor Control Act 1988 for the Aboriginal communities of Kundat Djaru (Ringer Soak), Nicholson Block and Koongie Park in the Shire of Halls Creek. It would be an offence to sell/supply, possess or bring liquor into the communities. Mr Waldron said the declaration of restricted areas in these communities was requested by the communities themselves and brings to 10 the number of communities operating under a section 175 alcohol ban in WA.
