Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year awarded to health care student

Markeeta Douglas has won the Australian Government's annual national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander of the Year award. The award aims to recognises students who display a strong understanding and knowledge of the vocational education and training system, and demonstrates the relevance of life long learning for themselves and their community.

Markeeta has worked in primary health care for over a decade and undertook training to be an Audiologist through the Open Training and Education Network (OTEN), completing her training at the Awabakal Aboriginal Primary Health Care Centre in New South Wales.
