COAG report on National Indigenous reform agreement

Date posted: 8 June 2010

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Reform Council has released the National Indigenous reform agreement: baseline performance report for 2008-09. The Council was established as part of the new arrangements for federal financial relations to assist COAG to drive its national reform agenda.

The report provides the baseline performance data and a comparative analysis of the performance of governments against the outcomes agreed under the National Indigenous Reform Agreement. A major component of this is reporting on the target set by COAG for all Commonwealth, State and Territory governments to share responsibility for Closing the gap across six key areas - life expectancy, child mortality, access to early childhood education, numeracy and literacy, educational attainment and economic participation.
