Just released: Overview of Australian Indigenous health status 2012

Date posted: 16 April 2013

The Overview of Australian Indigenous health status 2012 (Overview) has been released and is now freely available from the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet web resource. It provides a comprehensive summary of the most recent indicators of the health of Indigenous people.

The Overview, which draws on the most up-to-date, authoritative sources and undertakes some special analyses, is an important part of the HealthInfoNet's translational research. It contributes to ‘closing the gap' in health between Indigenous and other Australians by making research and other knowledge available in a form that it easily understood and readily accessible to both practitioners and policy makers.

The Overview, along with accompanying PowerPoint presentations of tables, figures, and key facts, can be downloaded directly from the HealthInfoNet web resource.

HealthInfoNet Director Neil Thomson said ‘our Overview is an important resource for people working or interested in Indigenous health in that it provides them with ready access to comprehensive, accurate information. This allows policy-makers, health service providers, program managers, and others to make the best decisions. It is also incredibly valuable to teachers and students, particularly those involved in post-secondary health-related training.'

'I'm really pleased that again this year we've enhanced the value of the Overview to lecturers and teachers by providing them with a number of downloadable PowerPoint presentations,' said Mr Thomson.
