On the fourth annual Close the gap day, campaign co-chairman Tom Calma, took the opportunity to note that in recent years progress has been made in closing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
However Mr Calma stresses there is still more work to be done and says the Federal Government needs to establish a comprehensive plan of action to facilitate cooperative partnerships between health agencies to ensure all are working together to close the gap. Mr Calma emphasised the need to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander access to primary health care services.
