Biography

Scott Wilson is an Aboriginal man from Darwin. Scott has held the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Council (SA), based in Adelaide, since 1995.

Scott has long-standing experience working in the areas of substance use, misuse and abuse which has led him to be a member of numerous government and non-government committees throughout Australia.  He held a ministerial appointment on the Australian National Council on Drugs for nine years, including being a member of the Executive for seven years. Scott served on the Alcohol Education Rehabilitation Foundation Board for 11 years; was an Executive member of the Alcohol and Drug Council of Australia; and has been co-Deputy Chair of the National Indigenous Drug and Alcohol committee since its formation in 2004.

In 2012 Scott was the recipient of the University of Sydney’s Sister Alison Bush Medal (Indigenous achievement). In 2003 he was awarded with the Australian Centenary Medal for Services to Indigenous People and the Wider Community and in 1997, Scott received the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia Day Achievement Medallion.
