Biography

Samantha Harkus is the Principal Audiologist for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Service at Australian Hearing. She has over twenty five years’ experience working in paediatric and adult services, as well as working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Samantha has worked at Australian Hearing since 1996 in a variety of roles including senior audiologist, clinical advisor, manager and more recently, principal audiologist. In her work at Australian Hearing she is responsible for managing a program that aims to overcome the barriers that prevent equity in access to hearing services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people: distance, culture, language and history.

Currently studying a Masters of Public Health, specialising in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander public health at the University of New South Wales, Samantha also has degrees from Macquarie University, including a Postgraduate Diploma (Audiology) and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology).
