Tel: (08) 8948 4444

Biography

Damien is a psychologist, based in the Northern Territory, and has established two companies: Ear Troubles and Phoenix Consulting. He has worked as a psychologist for over 30 years and is well experienced in general issues such as anxiety, depression, work health and relationships. Damien has spent many years investigating the social effects of conductive hearing loss and auditory processing problems.

Damien has particular interests in working with Aboriginal people and people living and working in remote cross-cultural contexts, as well as psychosocial issues of listening problems (mild hearing loss and auditory processing problems). Damien is also interested in Aboriginal mental health and the psychosocial outcomes of ear disease and auditory processing problems.

Over the years, Damien has conducted research into the long term impacts of Aboriginal hearing loss and auditory processing problems that occur from widespread ear disease among Aboriginal people. Another area of interest is the cross-cultural service provision and human resource provision, particularly support for Aboriginal staff and those working with them.
