Description

This series of TV programs aimed to tackle smoking and promote healthy lifestyles in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The programs showed a selection of community initiatives and projects which owe much of their success to partnerships and collaboration within the Indigenous communities. Projects and initiatives were showcased so that other communities could adapt them to best suit the needs of their communities. Sharing initiatives and triggering conversations was a key element of the Be strong series.

These programs were of particular relevance to Tobacco Action Workers, Healthy Lifestyle Workers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers, healthcare professionals and community groups. Some programs had a strong educational component, but others, while being educational, had more general information content for wider audience appeal. Points toward Continuing Professional Development (CPD) may have applied to some programs.

The Rural Health Education Foundation (RHEF) is no longer operational, and the Be strong series has been discontinued.
