Description

Resource no longer available online

The short wind flip chart displays computer-enhanced photographs of Indigenous people using various medications and modes of delivery. The use of graphics was chosen for cultural reasons and they show the correct way to use asthma medication. The pages are double-sided which allows health workers to easily present information to clients.

The short wind resources were created to meet the identified need in asthma education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in urban, remote and rural areas of Australia.

The resources convey very clear simple messages. They are colourful and appealing in an educational setting. They assist a range of health workers in conveying best practice asthma management in various settings Australia wide.

Asthma Foundation NT, Danila Dilba Medical Services and Flinders University SA collaborated to produce the resources.

When to use this resource

The flip chart can be used by health workers as an asthma educational tool when working with Indigenous people in urban, remote or rural settings of Australia. They help to convey best practice methods for asthma management in any one of these settings.

The flipchart can be used during one-on-one discussions, but is also appropriate for use in group situations to generate discussions on respiratory health, the risk factors and treatment options.
