Description

The communication guideline has been develop to provide guidance for individuals and organisations involved in the implementation and evaluation of Program of experience in the palliative approach (PEPA) and to enable them to work within local cultural practices and protocols.

The Guideline sets out practice principles which are identified in the resource kit: Providing culturally appropriate palliative care to Indigenous Australians(2004) and provide the framework for implementing cultural respect.

The practice principles are as follows:

When to use this resource

This resource is to be used by managers, mentors and other health workers involved in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers when approaching the subject of palliative care.
