Description

This report has been produced for the mental health workforce to provide information on the national standards for practice and service delivery in mental health. The report is an update of the 2002 National practice standards for the mental health workforce, and is aimed at the following professions:

The report lists 13 practice standards, which cover mental health practice across the lifespan (children, young people, adults, and older people).

When to use this resource

The national practice standards outlined in this report apply to workers from the above five professions, who work in a range of healthcare settings, including: hospitals; community mental health services; and correctional facilities in metropolitan, regional, and remote areas. Other workers outside the listed five professions may also find these revised practice standards useful. Workers should follow these national practice standards as well as the practice standards specific to their profession.
