Description

How does your garden grow? is a children's book featuring 16 stories from children aged six to nine years in Tjuntjuntjara, a very remote community in Western Australia.

This book was inspired by an 11-year-old boy, Lachie Coman, a primary school student from Melbourne, who organised a visit to the community of Tjuntjuntjara with the assistance and support of his school principal and his father. To fund the trip, Lachie grew and sold vegetables from his school garden.

Lachie's visit to the community provided the opportunity for him and the children of Tjuntjuntjara to write, draw and share stories of their gardens. These are the stories displayed on the pages of How does your garden grow?

The book demonstrates the ability of gardens to bring people of different cultures, races and experiences together.
