These guidelines provide information for health professionals on how to screen and care for patients with dementia. The guidelines cover the following areas of practice:

when to screen for dementia
initial assessment
principles of management
medication
follow up
referral.

Information on working with Indigenous patients and non-Indigenous patients is also included in the guidelines. A multidisciplinary approach should be used when diagnosing and managing patients with dementia.
