Sarah and Charlie [podcast] (2012)

Description

This short podcast is one of a series of messages providing information about otitis media (OM, ear disease). It was produced as part of the Listen `ear: a Murri and Ailan ear health campaign, a local initiative of the National Indigenous ear health campaign, Care for kids' ears. Created by a team of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander media workers, the podcast includes:

• a culturally appropriate dramatisation of the symptoms of OM
• a personal story from Sarah Boyne, Health Promotion Team Leader with Queensland Health's Deadly ears program, highlighting the behavioural signs of OM in young children
• information on the prevalence and prevention of the disease.

The Listen `ear messages were originally aired on Indigenous radio station, 98.9fm, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander listeners in south-east Queensland and were funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
