It was produced by the Brisbane Indigenous Media Association as part of the Stayin' strong project. The podcast includes an interview with Yvonne Helps, Research Officer at the Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia, and provides a discussion of the factors influencing the high rate of Indigenous road fatalities as well as culturally appropriate safety messages in the key areas of child restraints and seatbelts, road rules, fatigue and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Stayin' strong project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and produces 20 audio messages each month that are originally aired on Indigenous radio station, 98.9fm, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander listeners in south-east Queensland.
