Map
This map depicts the Aboriginal nations that exist within the boundaries of the North Coast Area Health Service. The map is part of a collection that illustrates the Aboriginal nations that exist within the boundaries of each of the eight NSW Area Health Services, as well as within NSW overall.
The maps were developed as a part of NSW Health's Chronic care for Aboriginal people (Walgan Tilly) clinical services redesign project. The Walgan Tilly project aims to address disparities in health care and improve access to and utilisation of chronic care services for Aboriginal people in NSW. (For detailed information about the Walgan Tilly project, see links below.)
Possible uses of this resource include hard-copy display in the reception areas of NSW chronic disease services. The map can also be used by NSW Area Health Services on websites and marketing materials.
The maps are based on the Aboriginal Australian wall map by David Horton, et al. As such, the maps indicate only the general location of larger groups of people, which may include small groups such as clans, dialects or individual languages within a group. (For more information about the Aboriginal Australian wall map, see links below.)
