Care for Kids’ Ears kit for teachers and teachers’ aides (2011)

Description

The Care for kids' ears resource kit for teachers and teachers' aids aims to deliver positive and consistent ear health messages to young children (up to year two).

The kit includes:

• an information booklet with an ear health summary
• a storybook featuring the characters of Kathy and Ernie
• a flipchart with suggested topics for discussions and interactive activities
• a set of memory cards to be used as a fun interactive activity
• colouring-in and dot-to-dot sheets
• a poster to promote ear health
• a teacher's factsheet to assist teachers of children with hearing loss
• stickers to reward and recognise children
• an activity book featuring the characters of Kathy and Ernie
• a feedback form.

The kits are available to download from the Care for kids' ears website and hard copies of the resource materials can be requested using an online order form.

The Care for kids' ears website is an additional online resource and includes the Strong hearing, strong start: Care for kids' ears health promotion video and further information on assisting students with hearing loss in the classroom. The resources are part of a campaign designed and produced by the Australian Government to increase awareness of ear disease and hearing loss in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
