Cannabis and mental health (2010)

Description

This one-page factsheet has been developed to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with information on the connection between different mental illnesses and cannabis use. The illnesses covered include:

• psychosis
• schizophrenia
• depression
• anxiety.

The factsheet encourages people who have a mental illness not to use cannabis. It was produced as part of the Cannabis: it's not our culture project by the National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre.

When to use this resource

Health workers who have Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander clients with mental illnesses, or clients who use cannabis, could offer this factsheet to their clients to help them understand the unhealthy connection between cannabis use and some mental illnesses.
