Description

The Your heart, your bloodline, your choice series of videos aim to educate Indigenous Western Australians (WA) about the link between diabetes and heart disease. The resources explore the impact lifestyle factors such as healthy eating, physical activity, smoking and stress have on disease progression.

There are five videos in the series:

Extensive consultation workshops and correspondence with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and health professionals from across WA were conducted to inform the development of the resource. The voice-overs for the animation were provided by Indigenous people from the Perth and the Kimberley regions.

When to use this resource

The animation is a tool designed to enhance the impact of an education session and stimulate discussion between health professionals and clients. It is ideal for use in either an individual or family setting as health is rarely an individual issue to Aboriginal people and therefore discussions should acknowledge the role of family.

The resource is available in two modes; USB and DVD. The DVD shows a continual version of the animation for display in waiting rooms whereas the USB consists of scene-by-scene breakdown of the animation along with an extensive range of supporting documents.
