this=that: a life-size photo guide to food serves (2011)

this=that: a life-size photo guide to food serves aims to improve general daily diets and assist in maintaining/achieving healthy body weights for adults.

Many nutrition and health recommendations talk about how many 'serves' of a food a person should eat. Explaining serves is not easy as it is often difficult for people to visualise amounts of foods. This book contains more than 300 life-size full colour photos of food and drinks which clearly illustrate serve sizes for people aged 14 and upwards.

The resource also includes information about energy (kj and calorie) value for different foods, and how they compare with other foods.

When to use this resource

This book is a useful tool when explaining to people about food serves and serve sizes. The user can even place the food on the photos to reveal any differences in serve size. This book has been designed to be used by people who are interested in losing weight or preventing weight gain, but it can also be used as an educational tool about daily nutritional requirements, about energy consumption and energy use and to provide ideas about how to satisfy hunger and stay healthy.
