This leaflet provides information on sorrow, loss, and grief for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It explains the role of culture during times of grief and provides information on:

• what grief is
• strategies to help cope
• what friends and family can do
• where to go for help.

The information is presented clearly and culturally appropriate artwork is used to help deliver the information.

When to use this resource

This leaflet would be useful for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are experiencing feelings of sorrow, loss, and grief. It would help to normalise these feelings, and give them ideas on how to cope and where to go for help. This leaflet would also be useful for the family or friends of people who are grieving as it would help them to understand what the person is going through and what they can do to help.
