Hepatitis Australia Education
Hepatitis Australia Education
Perth, WA
Electronic source
This DVD has been developed for women, particularly Indigenous women, in the Western Australian prison system. The DVD was developed in response to the high rate of hepatitis C among women in the Australian prison system and therefore seeks to educate and inform women about the virus.
The DVD tells the story of a woman named Rosie who has limited knowledge about hepatitis C when she enters the prison system. Rosie is encouraged to be tested for the virus by her peers where she gains information about her health and available treatments. Feeling empowered with her knowledge about hepatitis C, Rosie passes the information on to other women within the prison. The story also follows Rosie's experience as she tells her family and friends about the virus.
The DVD has been produced for use in custodial settings only, with the idea being that it will be played repetitively in the waiting rooms of custodial settings to ensure its maximum reach with the target audience.
