This brochure was designed for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Yarrabah in Queensland. It uses images to illustrate risk factors, warning signs and other factors related to suicide and self-harm, and promotes the message that help is always available. The 'Yarrabah stories' contained within the brochure are written by two people who have managed to overcome their desire to self-harm.
Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet abstract
This brochure would be a useful resource for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are at-risk of, or know someone at-risk of, suicide or self-harm. It was designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in or near Yarrabah, so the information and stories shared by local members of the community could be very helpful to others in a similar situation.
