Indigenous housing: myths and realities (2010)

Description

Healthabitat is a national housing program aimed at improving health in Indigenous communities through better living environments, particularly improved housing. This is done through a range of works, from urgent repairs, through to research and development that can contribute to longer term change. The work commenced in central Australia in 1985 and has developed into a national program since 1999. All programs involve local communities and employ as many local Aboriginal people as possible. The programs are funded mainly by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
