Standards and guidelines for suicide bereavement support groups (2009)

Description

This booklet has been developed to support those who are a part of, or run, suicide bereavement support groups. The booklet includes a set of standards to help guide the development of these support groups, and to help with reviewing the quality, safety, and effectiveness of these groups.

The standards cover the following four areas:

• support group establishment and maintenance
• support group philosophy and processes
• support group facilitation and management
• support group services.

This booklet is not an Indigenous-specific resource.

When to use this resource

The standards described in this booklet should be read by anyone involved in suicide bereavement support groups. While this booklet is not an Indigenous-specific resource, the information could be used as a guide by people who are developing or running suicide bereavement support groups for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
