Description

This resource kit aims to assist health care workers in the Hume region of Victoria to provide culturally competent health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The kit includes: posters:

an audit tool kit
information about working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and organisations
information about 'using an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health promotion framework through an Aboriginal lens'
a CD with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander images
a DVD and welcome sticker and template
an information guide providing answers about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, history and protocols.

The kit was produced by Mungarbareena Aboriginal Corporation and Women's Health Goulburn North East with the support of the Upper Hume Primary Care Partnership and Wodonga Regional Health Service. The initiative to develop the kit was a winner in the 2009 Victorian Health Care awards in the 'Reducing health inequalities' category.
