Rural Health Education Foundation

Rural Health Education Foundation

Lifescripts is a set of resources to assist GPs and health workers to provide advice to patients on how to manage the lifestyle risk factors for chronic disease. These risk factors include: smoking; poor nutrition; alcohol use, physical inactivity and unhealthy weight.

Specific Medicare items are available for GPs to provide voluntary health checks (or health assessments) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The aim of these Medicare items it to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people receive primary health care matched to their needs.

This DVD explores the set of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Medicare health checks available for Indigenous children, adults and older people and the Lifescripts tools that support them.

The DVD includes three case studies which illustrate the successful use and implementation of these health checks and Lifescripts into health services.

This program can be viewed online or downloaded as a podcast from the Rural Health Education Foundation website.
