This leaflet has been developed to increase understanding among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples about the experience of grief and loss. The leaflet includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork and language. Several areas are covered in the leaflet, including:

• understanding grief and loss
• stages of grief
• children and grief
• reaching out.

When to use this resource

This leaflet would be a helpful resource for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are experiencing feelings of grief or loss, or those who care for children who are grieving. Health workers could pass this leaflet on to clients who are grieving, or the leaflet could be made available in places where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people regularly visit.
