This leaflet aims to improve understanding about grief among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The leaflet includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork and language. The different topics covered in the leaflet include:

• telling our stories
• it's not just people dying
• what we can do
• what doesn't work
• reaching out.

The leaflet was produced by the Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Council of South Australia as part of a Grief and trauma project resource package.

When to use this resource

This leaflet would be a helpful resource for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are experiencing grief, or those who are close to someone who is grieving. Health workers could pass this leaflet on to clients who are grieving, or the leaflet could made available in places where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people regularly visit.
