The manual is divided into 6 parts with overheads, handouts and a list of resources for further information. It is clearly set out with easy to understand instructions and suggestions on how to use the manual. As there was a range in the knowledge of the professionals and workers who benefited from the training, the manual was designed so that it could be adapted by the presenter to suit different learning needs.

The Know your heart resource was created to assist Aboriginal Health Workers with the training, health education, and health promotion of other Aboriginal Health Workers and the communities they work with. It provided information on cardiovascular disease and set out teaching strategies that could be used by health workers. It was also a helpful resource for other health professionals involved in cardiovascular disease, health promotion, and education to Indigenous communities.
