This booklet provides information on the mental health issues experienced by pregnant women. It is designed for Aboriginal Health Workers and other health professionals who work with Indigenous families in the community. The 36-page booklet provides definitions of perinatal mental health issues (mental health problems experienced by women in the later stages of pregnancy or shortly after birth), including risk factors and effects on the baby, and further information on where to get help.

This booklet is provided to participants in the Aboriginal maternal mental health training (Boodjarri business) run by the WA Perinatal Mental Health Unit. It can be used by Aboriginal Health Workers and other health professionals who work with Aboriginal mothers and families during pregnancy.
