Description

This booklet is designed to inform Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities about the treatment of HIV/AIDS. Information is also provided on:

• how the body's immune system recognises and fights the virus
• stages of HIV infection
• viral load
• antiviral treatments
• combination therapy
• associated side-effects
• structured treatment interruptions.

The booklet has been developed with the help of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with HIV/AIDS, and presents the information using a storytelling framework.
