Description

Our mob: healthy in the tropics showcases a health promotion and community development program in Townsville, Queensland. The aim of the video is to improve health and nutrition for the Indigenous community of Townsville.

The video has Elder and advocate for Our mob: healthy in the tropics Dr Gracelyn Gullidala Smallwood talking about the need for individuals to take control over their own health issues if they are to live a long and healthy life. The video also showcases the Riverway's Cultural Park an important area for local Indigenous people where a new kitchen is under constuction and when finished will be used to cook and prepare healthy food.

This video was developed by the Townsville Intercultural Centre to support the Our mob: healthy in the tropics program and was funded by the Australian Department of Health and Ageing as part of the Live longer campaign.
