Resource package
This series of nine pamphlets and a poster were developed to address the lack of sexually transmissible infection (STI) and bloodborne virus (BBV) resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in North Queensland. The pamphlets were first published in 1998-1999 and due to popularity, were updated in 2011 to ensure content reflected current testing and treatment procedures. The revision process, which involved consulting with Far North Queensland stakeholders and focus testing, resulted in the following nine pamphlets:
Each pamphlet provides information on the infection, how it is transmitted, how to use condoms, and where to get help. The poster seeks to reduce the spread of STIs and BBVs by encouraging people to use protection and visit their local health clinic for a sexual health check. The pamphlets and poster have been produced in language that is appropriate for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of North Queensland, and include artwork that is appealing for this audience.
