Description

This guideline is part of an overall set of recommendations for the prevention, diagnosis and management of type 2 diabetes. This national evidence-based guideline addresses the prevention, identification and management of foot complications in diabetes, and is equally relevant for type 1 and type 2 diabetes. This guideline will update and replace the section of the national evidence-based guidelines for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, namely: Part 6 detection and prevention of foot problems in type 2 diabetes (last updated 2005). The purpose of this guideline is to inform a broad range of health professionals.

A guideline on primary prevention of vascular disease for people with and without diabetes is also currently being completed by the National Vascular Disease Prevention Alliance (NVDPA).
