Drink, death and dollars (2010)

Description

This radio documentary was produced by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) journalist Katrina Bolton. The documentary, Drink, death and dollars, won a 2011 Walkley Award in the best radio feature, documentary or broadcast special category, as well as a bronze in international competition at the 2011 New York Festival. The documentary is based on interviews with members of communities in Central Australia, and focuses on members' views on alcohol and the legalities of its sale by local vendors.

In response to this documentary, the Northern Territory Licensing Commission ordered a review of the way venues in Central Australia operate, resulting in retailers committing to a floor price on alcohol.
