Sexual health orientation manual for endemic regions (2011)

Description

This handbook has been developed for all health practitioners (including Aboriginal Health Workers) who work in rural and remote areas in Western Australaia where sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood-borne viruses (BBVs) are very common. The information contained in this handbook aims to support and inform workers in their clinical practice by helping them to identify and manage cases of STIs and BBVs. The handbook is comprised of nine sections and covers the following topics:

• epidemiology
• opportunistic screening
• health impacts
• STIs
• BBVs
• clinical management
• follow up
• education and prevention
• referrals and resources.
