This resource package was developed for Indigenous families who have a child or young person with a disability. It is particularly suited for families living in New South Wales (NSW), although some of the information in the package would be useful for families in other parts of Australia. The package promotes disability support services to Indigenous families, and provides some information about how to care for a child with a disability.
The resource package includes a:
- Booklet
- The 32-page booklet gives information about how to support a child with a disability. It also provides directory listings of disability services, respite services and Indigenous support agencies in NSW. The booklet features the stories and voices of Indigenous families who have coped with having a child with a disability.
- Brochure
- The two-page brochure provides concise information for Indigenous families who have a child with an disability. It answers the questions, 'What is a disability?' and 'What can I do?', and provides information about places to find help.
- Poster
- The colour poster encourages Indigenous families to seek support if they have a child with a disability.
