Description

This A4, double-sided resource is a 'quick reference guide' to cultural competence courses suitable for health workers in the state of Victoria. The resource is intended as a guide only and is not a complete list. The resource provides information about 13 relevant cultural competence courses and describes the following features of each:

The guide includes information about both online and face-to-face training. Examples of training providers included in the guide are: the Victorian Aboriginal Controlled Community Health Organisation, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), and the Centre for Cultural Competence Australia.

This reference guide also provides a list of 10 items that are relevant to cultural competence training, such as guidelines, audit tools, and training registers. The guide describes the following features of each resource in the list:

Examples of resources included in the list are RACGP's Matrix for the identification of cultural safety training needs, Reconciliation Australia's Cultural awareness training register, and the Victorian Government Aboriginal inclusion framework.

This reference guide was prepared by the Department of Health Victoria as part of its Closing the gap Aboriginal health workforce activities.
