This DVD was produced in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia to assist Aboriginal families prepare for the birth of a baby. It follows the experiences of a local Aboriginal mother, Cissy, as she progresses through the different stages of her pregnancy.
This program looks at pre and post natal care provided by midwives and doctors including important checks such as blood tests, ultrasounds and physiotherapy treatments. A tour of the Kununurra birth suite is shown, and there is discussion of positions for birth, labour medications and other self help techniques. Cissy's labour and the birth is shown.
Post natal topics include the importance of breastfeeding, post natal checks for the mother and newborn tests and procedures.

This DVD offers useful information for Indigenous women that is often very hard to find. It would be suitable for clinics, private screenings and parenting preparation groups.
