Transgenerational trauma (2009)

Description

This presentation focuses on transgenerational trauma in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. Transgenerational trauma refers to issues of grief and loss which are passed down through generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families as a result of traumatic experiences. The presentation addresses the question of 'How does the past have anything to do with now?' and discusses what approaches are needed to help heal the trauma.

The presentation is delivered by Shane Merritt, a lecturer at the University of New England and Aboriginal consultant to the Australian Child and Adolescent Trauma, Loss and Grief Network (ACATLGN).
