Mental health radio programs: depression [5 parts] (2010)

Description

This mental health educational radio program focuses on depression. The program is a five part series and is directed at young Aboriginal people, particularly Yolngu people in the Northern Territory. The program is aired on the Yolngu Radio Service and covers the following topics:

• young people with worries
• how parents can help
• drugs - dealing with the real issues and talking about fears
• loss of mastery and helping young people to become masters
• the importance of culture for identity.

The program is provided in MP3 audio format and can be played through Media Player or downloaded.

This program is an educational resource for young Yolngu people but would also be a valuable learning resource for parents, guardians, and the wider community. It provides information on what depression is and what can be done to help manage the feelings associated with depression.
